Mortuary

Our mortuary service offers a secure and dignified care of your loved one who has passed away in our hospitals or in the community. 

We understand that this is a very difficult and distressing time for families, and the team are here to support and assist bereaved relatives and carers by helping with the procedures following a death.

We serve our hospitals and the local community and perform post mortem examinations when necessary. The majority of routine adult cases are performed under the authority of HM Coroner for Peterborough and Cambridgeshire. Routine and forensic paediatric/perinatal cases are transferred to another licenced establishment; however, consent for these cases is obtained on site.

The Bereavement Team provides support to bereaved families and loved ones with the practical considerations regarding the death certification process including:

• Completion of Medical Certificate of Cause of Death
• The Registry Office
• Referrals to the Coroner
• The Medical Examiner’s Service
• Cremation Paperwork
