About Team North West Anglia

Previously our three main acute hospitals were run by two separate trusts – Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Hinchingbrooke HealthCare NHS Trust. By combining the two trusts in 2017, we have been able to strengthen the clinical and financial sustainability of our hospitals which will help retain services that were previously deemed fragile and ensure patients can continue to be able to access local care, locally. In addition, the merger has increased the Trust’s offering to prospective employees – with greater opportunities to work in larger teams and across the diversity of its sites in order to gain wider experience in their field.

We are a Trust who see over 940,000 patients throughout the year, that is around 2,500 patients every day and in 2021/22 we welcomed nearly 6,500 babies into the world in our hospitals.

We employ over 7,000 members of staff, some of whom work across more than one of our sites.  At Peterborough City Hospital, staff work alongside service provider partners Multiplex, Medirest and Althea UK. They provide facilities management services, cleaning, catering, portering and medical equipment management. At Hinchingbrooke, our teams are supported by colleagues from Mitie, who provide security, cleaning, grounds and garden services along with waste collection services. Catering services at Stamford and Rutland Hospital are provided by Mitie.

Our 400-strong group of dedicated volunteers offer practical and emotional support to our patients, provide a helping hand to our staff and a friendly face for our visitors. Providing over 40,000 hours of volunteering support. They support the running of all three of our main hospitals in a number of ways – from welcoming and directing visitors to giving out refreshments on the wards and chatting to patients.
