Meet your August Star Award, Team of the Month.... Resuscitation Services Team! The team were picked for the award following a strong month of nominations, being chosen as award winners because of their fantastic work introducing a vital new safety system, MyKitCheck.

 MyKitCheck is a brand new electronic checking system that has changed how our resuscitation equipment is checked within our hospitals. It is a digital system which has replaced paper based checklists, providing a real time status of equipment and a ready access to enhanced reporting capabilities, removing the need for manual auditing and data gathering. The web App can be accessed using any web-enabled device such as tablets, laptops and computers on wheels.

Implementing this new safety system has involved working closely with all clinical areas, departments and managers to support them in introducing MyKitCheck; as well as individually onboarding every piece of equipment and monitoring compliance, to ensure that patient safety is maintained throughout this change process. This has all been done whilst maintaining an already full timetable of activity.

The innovation and introduction of this new system by the team, improves both patient safety and governance through its real time monitoring of readiness and reporting. It is both a time and cost positive project, giving more time back to our staff to care for patients and reducing wastage through more accurate and timely monitoring of expiring stock. Throughout this process compliance has been maintained above 90% and staff members have really engaged in the process and have been demonstrating some fantastic improvements in compliance and therefore patient safety.
