Research success at NIHR Clinical Research celebration awards

Woman holding award and certificate The Research and Development Team who work across sites at both Peterborough City and Hinchingbrooke Hospital have celebrated their success at the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network East of England celebration Awards.

The Awards shine a light on the incredible work that has been happening over the past year to deliver NIHR around the East of England region. It’s also an opportunity for staff to connect and celebrate with colleagues across the community.

The team submitted seven nominations, of which three were shortlisted in the following categories: ‘Wellbeing,’ aimed at a team or individual that has been involved in a project which has improved the wellbeing of staff within an organisation and/or had a positive impact for staff. ‘Breaking Boundaries,’ aimed at teams that have shown initiatives based on collaborative working across teams/organisations to improve efficiency and patient experience and ‘Unsung Hero,’ aimed at an individual within non-delivery teams who has gone ‘above and beyond’ within their role to support research in the Trust. This may be those working within the non-clinical services that support research, or staff outside Research and Development Teams.

Following these nominations, the team were successful in winning the Wellbeing category and received Highly Commended in the other two categories.

Susie O’Sullivan, Senior Research Nurse, was successful in winning the Wellbeing category for her supportive nature and delivering excellent patient care. Under her leadership, the team has improved NIHR recruitment numbers for the Trust, and encouraged staff development. Hannah Wroe, Research Governance Manager, and the Research and Development (R&D) Governance Team both won highly commended in their respective categories.

Dr Ashraf Ibrahim, Director of Research and Development, for the Trust said: “I am incredibly proud of our R&D Team for their success at the Regional Network East of England award ceremony. I offer my congratulations to all of our winners and nominees. These awards reflect the hard work and dedication the Team continue to show in improving our patients’ access to cutting edge research.”

The awards were held on Wednesday 12 July at St Andrew’s Hall in Norwich and livestreamed for those who were unable to attend.
