Become a Patient Assessor and have a say in your local hospitals
Have you ever visited your local hospital and thought about ways the environment could be even better for patients? Now is your chance to make a real difference.
Our Trust is looking for volunteers to become Patient Assessors as part of the national Patient-Led Assessments of the Care Environment (PLACE) programme. This is an opportunity for local people to have their voice heard and help North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust ensure its hospitals provide the best possible experience for patients, visitors and staff.
As a Patient Assessor, you'll work alongside staff and other members of the community to assess areas including:
- Cleanliness
- Food and catering services
- Privacy and dignity
- Building maintenance
- Accessibility
- Support for people living with dementia or disabilities
The hospital environment plays an important role in patient wellbeing, recovery and overall experience. The feedback and observations provided by Patient Assessors will directly influence improvements across our hospitals, helping to ensure that the patient perspective remains at the heart of decision-making.
The Trust is keen to hear from people with a variety of experiences, including patients, carers, relatives, friends and family members, patient advocates and members of the local community. No specialist knowledge is required, just a willingness to share your views and help us improve.
The annual assessments are coordinated by the Estates and Facilities Team, with results published nationally to support transparency and continuous improvement across the NHS.

Patient-Led Assessments of the Care Environment take place on the following dates and times:
- Peterborough City Hospital - 8, 22, 29 October
- Stamford and Rutland Hospital - 15 October
- Hinchingbrooke Hospital - 5, 12, 19, 30 October
A complimentary meal will be provided on the day for our Patient Assessors.
