A massive congratulations to the North West Anglia Foundation Trust's Sepsis team who recently organised two Sepsis charity walks at Nene Park, Peterborough and Hinchingbrooke Park, Huntingdon.
Joined by colleagues, families, friends and a few canine companions, the combined efforts of everybody who took part meant the final total raised for UK Sepsis Trust was £413.00.
The Sepsis team alongside their fundraising also helped to create a handout intended for younger people, to raise awareness about Sepsis symptoms in children and introduced their mascot- Sam the Sepsis Buffalo.
Sam the Sepsis Buffalo, was inspired by the Sepsis 6 acronym "Bufalo" used by clinical teams treating and managing Sepsis. Whilst the name Sam acts as another acronym and reminder for "Sepsis Awareness Matters".
It is important to be aware of the signs of Sepsis, which is a life-threatening condition which occurs when the body's own response to an infection injures its own tissues and organs. Sepsis primarily affects very young children and older adults, however, it is indiscriminate so it is important to also be aware of the symptoms and to ask if it could be Sepsis, if it is suspected.
