The radiology team at Peterborough City and Hinchingbrooke Hospitals have been shortlisted in a national awards scheme for modernising diagnostic services.

The team’s collaboration with teleradiology experts Hexarad is one of nine initiatives shortlisted in the finals of the Health Service Journal 2023 awards taking place in London on 16 November 2023.

The work to roll out an electronic portal to manage out of hours CT scan requests at the Trust’s hospitals, which has been in place since April 2023, has been selected as a finalist in the Modernising Diagnostics Award category.

The new system means patient waiting times for scans are reduced and the booking administration requirements are automated, giving clinicians more time to focus their attention on clinical care.

Michelle Cady, Chief Operating Officer at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, said: “This is a great example of ways staff are working to improve patient care and experience. I would like to thank our Radiology Team, and the team from Hexarad, for such great work in delivering the electronic portal across our two main hospital sites. It is a fantastic achievement to have made the Health Service Journal Awards finals and we wish the teams every success on the night.”
