A specialist team of women’s health physiotherapists are reaching out to pregnant women in our communities to help them care for their all-important pelvic floor muscles.
The team runs a free-to-access online Pregnancy and Pelvic Floor learning session every month designed to cover the effect of pregnancy on the pelvic floor muscles and offer information and advice to care for these muscles both during pregnancy and after delivery.
Kate Mitchell, Women’s Health Physio Team Lead, said: “Knowing how to look after your pelvic floor muscles properly is important to women during their pregnancy and afterwards. These muscles play a huge part in bladder and bowel health and by taking care of them we can prevent a lot of conditions associated with pregnancy that often cause women anxiety in later life.”
The next session takes place on Tuesday 21 May at 1.30pm. If you are interested in joining the webinar, check out our website to register here: Pregnancy and Pelvic Floor Muscles | NW Anglia Website (nwangliaft.nhs.uk)
The team will be moving these events to a regular monthly slot of 9.30am on the first Tuesday of every month, starting on Tuesday 4 June 2024.
