Maternity team makes HSJ Digital Awards shortlist

The Maternity Team at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust has been shortlisted for a Health Service Journal (HSJ) award.

The team's project to use a digital system to reduce stillbirth and brain injuries through and early warning score system was one of 8 nominations to be shortlisted in the Digital Clinical Safety category of the awards.

One of NHS Resolution’s four key strategic priorities is to collaborate to improve maternity outcomes and to support the government’s maternity safety ambition to halve rates of stillbirth, neonatal and maternal death and brain injuries that occur during or shortly after birth by 2025.

Dr Manjula Samyraju, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist for the Trust, said: “We’re really pleased to have been shortlisted for the HSJ Awards and it marks the fifth time that we’ve been nominated, which is an incredible testament to the continued hard work that our staff do. We wouldn’t have this achievement without the hard work and dedication of each and every maternity department staff member.

Manjula added: “We would like to share our learning and experiences from our study on Digital Fetal Early Warning Scoring framework, which is developed to provide an early warning when changes occur during fetal monitoring to achieve faster medical intervention for better outcomes.”

The HSJ Digital Awards celebrate the power of digital products, projects and services to transform care delivery, enhance efficiency, and improve patient outcomes.

Finalists will present their entries to a formal judging panel later this month, before attending the awards ceremony on Thursday 22 June at Manchester Central.
