Staff at local hospital awarded in Chief Midwifery Officer Awards

Two maternity support staff from Peterborough City and Hinchingbrooke Hospital have been awarded Chief Midwifery Awards for their service to maternity support worker excellence.

Mandy Nicholls, Health Care Assistant at Peterborough City Hospital, has been in her role for 26 years and received the award for 'Commitment to Quality of Care.' Mandy was nominated for her wealth of knowledge and experience in the field which is invaluable and is always willing to share her expertise with her colleagues. One of Mandy’s great strengths is her ability to communicate effectively with her colleagues, she is a true team player and always willing to lend a hand and go the extra mile when needed.Group of people smiling

Jane Reavey, Maternity Support Worker at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, has been in her current role for 3 years and received the award for 'Working together for Patients.' Jane has worked in the trust for many years, in different areas including Maternity Day Assessment Unit and Community and was nominated for her wealth of experience and is committed to providing excellent care to women and their babies, ensures families feel listened to. She gives them the time they need often going above and beyond what’s expected and is professional, friendly and respects women's individual beliefs and needs.

Melissa Davis, Head of Midwifery at the Trust, said: “This is fantastic news, and I am extremely proud of Mandy and Jane for their hard work and dedication to our maternity services. They are passionate about improving maternity services for our staff, patients and their families and it’s a privilege to have them as part of our workforce.”

This award has been developed to reward the significant and outstanding contribution made by midwives in England and their exceptional contribution to midwifery practice.
