Local hospital holds East of England Allied Health Professional event

Peterborough City Hospital held the first East of England regional event for Allied Health Professionals (AHP) on Thursday 8 June.

The Regional AHP Team is hosting a range of events across the year and the first event was about ‘Inclusive and Collaborative Anti-Racism Leadership.’ The group was supported by the Trust’s Allied Health Practice Education Team.

The Trust’s AHP Team provides support in education for both undergraduate and postgraduate AHPs and works to promote further development and career opportunities, offering pastoral support and helping to improve staff retention. The team are also involved in supporting AHP support workers, international recruitment, apprenticeships, and return to practice and student placements.

Louise Tibbert, Chief People Officer for the Trust, said: “We’re truly privileged to have such an amazing and diverse workforce that we’re really proud of and it’s important that everyone feels they have a voice and are valued. The Trust remains committed to an inclusive culture where all staff can thrive and reach their full potential, and where discrimination in any form is not tolerated.”

The day included a guest panel who shared their experiences and how they overcame certain obstacles. Interactive sessions were held, which gave staff the opportunity to ask questions and reflect on points raised by the speakers.

Raj Thirunageswaram, Assistant Director of Allied Health Professionals, said: “Being able to host events like this in collaboration with the region is crucial to helping staff and employers know what support and resources are available to them, in addition to hearing from professionals who contribute to shared learning and networking.”

The Trust will host another AHP event with the East of England region in October based on a different theme.
