Peterborough City Hospital recently held its first Enhanced and Advanced Practice Conference for staff in March.
The event focused on an array of topics and discussions surrounding the development and diverse pathways for staff looking to progress within their healthcare careers, through different education routes such as undertaking postgraduate qualifications and apprenticeships.
Advanced and Enhanced practice covers a range of different roles for staff and departments, including advanced clinical practitioners, specialist pharmacists and consultant radiographers, providing career development for highly experienced and qualified staff, allowing them to be formally recognised for their expertise.
There was an additional focus at the event on leadership and management skills, and research and quality improvement opportunities. The interactive and popular event featured guest speakers and showcased the different work clinical teams do within the Trust.
Laura Dilley, Lead Advanced Clinical Practitioner for North West Anglia Foundation Trust said: “Our first ever Enhanced and Advanced Conference was successful and illustrated the importance of valuing our practitioners and the different careers that can be undertaken. By supporting our staff to progress within their clinical areas and become experts within their fields, ultimately, we are ensuring our patients have the very best care provided.”
