A Radiographer who has nearly 40 years' experience has been awarded a coveted award by the Society of Radiographers (SoR).
Paul Newman won the Eastern Radiography Professional of the Year 2025 and was presented the award by Richard Evans OBE, Chief Executive Officer of the Society of Radiographers and Katie Thompson, President of the Society of Radiographers.

Paul has worked in radiography all of his working life and has had a variety of roles including management, an elected and accredited SoR representative as well as a frontline radiographer.
The Society of Radiographers award follows a process of colleague nomination. In his nomination, Paul's colleague highlighted how much of a fantastic support he is to colleagues, always there to offer advice and support. Paul is also frequently singled out by patients for the exceptional care he provides and the caring and patient manner he displays, always making time for those that need him.
In the wider radiography family, Paul has contributed regularly to the Society of Radiographers Annual Delegates' Conference and on the Eastern Regional Committee for the Society.
The impact of Paul's kindness, dedication and professionalism is evidenced in improved radiographic practice, better standards of management and staff relations and above all greater focus on patient care and outcomes. This adds up to innumerable lives changed for the better.
